Healthy hot chocolate

This is a favourite of mine over winter, with the dark chocolate offering raw cacao which is rich in antioxidant and magnesium. The addition of maca is a good sugar free energiser known to enhance stamina.  Cinnamon is not only tasty but helps avoid blood sugar spikes. Avoid this close to bedtime due to the stimulant properties of cacao. 

Hot Chocolate

To make one cup

 - 250 ml nut milk of choice, unsweetened

- 1 tablespoon raw cacao powder

- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

- 1 tablespoon maca powder

- 1/2 tablespoon coconut oil

- 1 teaspoon maple syrup

Method:

Add milk to pan, heat gently. Add cacao, maca and cinnamon, then stir in maple syrup.  Add coconut oil and melt.  Serve!
